The Gordon Forrest Memorial Recital 2023
This recital went live on Saturday 28th October 2023. The goal set for each entrant was "to entertain their audience". The aim was to give each player free rein to be as creative as they wanted to be, both musically and visually.

This year we are featuring two talented pipers, Silas Jones from Abergele and Andrea Jones from North Carolina. We also have a selection of tunes from the Wirral Pipe Band. Andrea has competed in our Solo Piping competition for the last few years. This is her first entry in the recital. Silas was only 14 when he started learning the pipes less than two years ago but is rapidly developing into a remarkable player.

We have also received an entry from the Liverpool Scottish, showcasing their new drum fanfare. There are no pipes in this entry as required on the entry form but we thought we would include this item anyway. This is a recital, not a competition, so we thought it OK to bend the rules on this occasion. In fact we have already decided to amend the rules to include drumming from now on.

The final entry is "Song for the Smallpipe", written by Robert Mathieson. Here it is played by Silas with two-part harmony written and played by Chris Eyre. There is a link to the full score below it.
